Recalling how he gave up military information to his interrogators, McCain said: "I regret very much having done so. The information was of no real use to the Vietnamese, but the Code of Conduct for American Prisoners of War orders us to refrain from providing any information beyond our names, rank and serial number."

The episode wasn't the only instance when McCain broke under physical pressure

McCain was taken to an interrogation room and ordered to sign a document confessing to war crimes. "I signed it," he recalled. "It was in their language, and spoke about black crimes, and other generalities."

"IS THIS THE COWARD WE WANT FOR PRESIDENT"?

JOHN MCCAIN VOTED FOR THE IRAQ WAR AND WANTS TO PROLONG THIS WAR. HE HAS HELPED TO KILL THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT CHILDREN . THIS IS THE SAME MAN WHO WAS A COWARD IN THE WAR AND COOPERATED WITH THE ENEMY. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD WANT THIS MAN TO BE THEIR PRESIDENT. PLEASE REMEMBER HE IS AN ADULTERER WHO ONLY REPRENTED AFTER HE WAS CAUGHT. IS THIS TRUE REPENTANCE. OBAMA IS GOD'S CHOICE AND HE WILL LOSE ONLY IF THE REPUBLICANS STOP OR STEAL THE VOTES LIKE THEY DID WITH GORE.

Do you have MULTIPLE SCREEN NAME DISORDER?

There have been recent studies done regarding people who use multiple screen names in chat rooms and blog sites. According to Momofany of Virgina these people can be paranoid, seeing "personal attacks" where none exist. Later that same person may feel superior with delusions of grandeur. Is each screen name a different personality? Or does one person use multiple screen names so they can "talk" to themselves and feel like someone agrees with them, since nobody in the "real" world does. Fox 13 is loaded with bloggers with Multiple Screen Names. Do you think that every blogger with Multiple Screen Name has a disorder or is it just having fun?

LAST YEAR I SALUTED  SONNY AND OKAYPROSE  ON THE FOX BLOG.  THESE TWO WOMEN TO ME WERE THE EPITIOME OF CHRISTIANITY.  I  INSULTED THEM AND THEY TURNED THE OTHER CHEEK.  THEY REACH OUT TO EVERYONE EVEN WHEN ITS A BAD BLOG. THEY GAVE OF THEIR TIME,  THOUGHTS, FEELING AND LOVE. THEY SHOW FORGIVENESS, PATIENCE AND EMPATHY. I SALUTED THOSE WOMEN BECAUSE THEY HELPED ME TO GROW AND TO LOOK WITHIN MYSELF TO SEE MY FAULTS AND NOT THE FAULTS OF OTHERS.

THIS MOTHER'S DAY I SALUTE ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS ENDURED MANY HEARTACHES AND ILLNESS BUT HER FAITH REMAINS STEADFAST. INSULT HER AND SHE BLESSES YOU. SHUN HER AND SHE LOVES YOU. BETRAY HER AND SHE REACHES OUT FOR YOU.  HER NAME IS

"I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGHTENS ME. GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP THE FAITH

BEST BLOGS ARE NOT ABOUT RACE

I made a bet with myself that no matter how good the blogs are there would always be more responses to a blog about race. Unfortunately, I was right. The blogs that I enjoyed the most were from bloggers known as ernie freeman, fttappan, foxydiva, sonnygl, 1peace2, okaypro,55loveit, sianskye and so many others. These blogger shared a variety of subject that all bloggers would feel comfortable debating, however the majority of the blogger gravitated to the infamous blog I created to prove a point. The blog I created on HOW TO ELECT A BLACK OR HISPANIC PRESIDENT gathered 115 responses while most blogs averaged between 10 and 30 responses.

Please ask yourself why were there so many repsponses to this blog. There are so many talented and warm people on fox13 blog who we never get a chance to experience because of our one dimensional focus on a subject that is only one aspect that will help us to obtain a complete and fulfilling life. This week let all of us change our focus.

I will focus on love not race
I will focus on forgiveness not race
I will focus on sharing not race
I will focus on understanding not race
I will focus on knowledge not race

Please feel free to add to the list and God Bless all of my white, asian, Indian, hispanic and black brothers and sisters

How To Elect a Black or Hispanic President

If the Democratic Party fails to endorse Obama after his winning the Popular and Delegate votes it should be a revelation to minorities. I believe that Blacks and Hispanics should rethink their party affiliation if Obama is not endorsed. I am convinced that the Media is conspiring to keep the Oval Office the same color as the white house and will ensure that Obama does not receive the democratic nomination by focusing on Jeremiah Wright's sermons rather than Obama's platform.

When and if the Democrat's fail to nominate Obama it should signal to every black and hispanic in America that it is time to form their own political party to serve the interest of the disenfranchised.

I do not believe that every White democrat or republican is  a racist, however we must do whatever is necessary to make sure that we are politically represented. Separating  from Main Stream political parties may become our only opportunity to have equal representation in the political process.

Hispanics and Blacks account for 33% of the voting population if not more and combining the voting strength of the two minorities would certainly ensure the election of a minority candidate.

Democrats
Do the right thing. Nominate Obama. America's future depends on a Change

LETTER TO THE COMMERCIAL  APPEAL  FROM  TOMEKA  HART

There has been a misunderstanding regarding this situation. Please find below a copy of the April 10th email I sent (typos and all!) to Councilwoman Fullilove regarding the Memphis City Schools' attendance at the council's education committee meetings. Due to its size, I have to send it in two postings. To: Janis.Fullilove@memphistn.gov From: Tomeka Hart/Admin/Avery/MCS Date: 04/10/2008 08:06PM cc: Joann Tuggers/Admin/Avery/MCS@MCS, Thelma Crivens/Admin/Avery/MCS@MCS, Scott.McCormick@memphistn.gov Subject: CORRECTED: Education Committee Meetings Councilwoman Fullilove, I left you a voicemail, but decided to send you this email in case we do not connect today. We need clarification regarding the MCS presentations to the Education Committee. As I stated to you when we met, I feel strongly that the School Board and City Council should have a good working relationship; certainly one better than what the bodies have had in the past. The two bodies should be committed to working together to make sure our children and citizens receive the best service as related to their education, standard/conditions of living, safety/security, well-being, etc. To do so, the two bodies should meet on a regular basis to discuss the issues affecting our children and communities. With that, I want to make sure the bodies understand their roles and reporting responsibilities. While I had hoped that we could work together to develop an annual agenda (i.e. quarterly meetings to discuss selected issues), the MCS staff has received requests to report to the committee on a bi-monthly basis (once or twice with a week's notice), and to be prepared to discuss broad management level issues. It is difficult for our staff to prepare for such a meeting, and as you know under Tennessee Code Annotated, the Superintendent reports to the School Board, with his/her staff reporting to him/her. Additionally, the TCA defines the role of the Superintendent and the Board, giving the responsibilities of management to the Superintendent and that of governance and policy setting to the School Board. Thus, under state law, the School Board does not even have the authority to control the management function of education. While we don't want to create another reporting body for the MCS staff, we certainly understand the Council's need and desire for more information regarding the district in efforts of holding the district accountable for the funds you provide. To that end, we have always provided the Council with our annual audit and a detailed annual budget to assist you in making your funding decisions. The Superintendent and Board members have and will always attend the budget presentation to answer any questions the Education Committee and Council may have. Further, as I stated in our meeting, I look forward to the members of the Board meeting and working with the Council more regularly. Posted by thart6 on April 15, 2008 at 9:41 p.m. (Suggest removal) When the Education Committee voted to require us to make a presention of our audit to the Audit Committee, it did so on the basis that the council requires all of its quasi-governmental bodies to do so. The MCS was created by the Tennessee Legislature and is thus an actual governmental body; not a quasi-governmental body operating under the arms of the Council. To be sure, the Council's resolution establishing this requirement does not list MCS as a body required to present its audit. However, in the spirit of collaboration, we send you our annual audit each year. Further, Martavius Jones (Vice-President and Chair of our Audit Committee) and I will gladly meet with the committee to discuss our audit. However, we are not available do so on May 6, but would like to set a time that is convenient for the committee and us. I will set this up with Councilman Boyd. As for the meeting on April 15, the MCS has historically submitted our budgets to the Council's and Commission's education committes on April 15, giving you time to review it and develop your questions. The Superintendent and Board members then return at a later date to answer the Education Committee's questions. The budget is then presented to the full council. We plan to submit the budget to your committee on April 15, and then the Superintendent, I and any other Board member who wants to attend, are scheduled to meet with your committee on May 20 to answer any questions you may have. Please call me when you get an opportunity so we can discuss this. I welcome the opportunity to have a closer working relationship with the Council. I just want to make sure we do it properly, respecting the roles and responsibilities of each other. Also, I would like to assure you that the School Board and staff are very much aware of the issues and challenges facing the MCS. The School Board acts within its power and challenges the Superintendent to address the issues and to provide effective solutions. Thanks. Tomeka Hart

THIS ARTICLE WAS REFERRED TO ME BY  LILLADY. THE ARTICLE PROVIDES PROOF THAT A MAYOR CONTROLLED APPOINTED BOARD IS MORE EFFECTIVE THAN AN ELECTED BOARD. OUR CHILDREN ARE THE ISSUE, NOT MAYOR HERENTON. PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO READ THE EXCERPTS AND BASE YOUR OPINION ON FACTS AND NOT EMOTIONS. THE MAJORITY OF THESE SCHOOLS HAVE SHOWN OUTSTANDING PROGRESS SINCE THEIR CHANGE TO APPOINTED BOARDS INSTEAD OF ELECTED BOARDS

CITIES WITH MAYOR IN CONTROL

? Boston: Mayor Thomas Menino, a Democrat appoints a seven-member school committee, which then names a superintendent. A petition submitted by the mayor and city council allowing the mayor to appoint the committee was approved by the governor and Massachusetts Legislature in 1991. Voters reaffirmed mayoral control in 1996.

? Chicago: The nation's third-largest school system has been under mayoral control since Democrat Richard Daley took it over in 1995 in an attempt to address low test scores and high dropout rates. State law allows the mayor to appoint seven people to the Chicago Board of Education without the city council's approval. Supporters of mayoral control say test scores are up. Critics say Daley has been too quick to close schools without community input. The mayor is now pushing a small-school initiative. Some of the new schools will be run by private and public groups outside the direct control of the school system.

? Cleveland: The current structure took effect in 1998. The board of education is made up of nine voting members appointed by the mayor. At least four of the nine members must have significant expertise in either education, finance, or business management. Roughly 60,000 students are enrolled in the school system. Residents voted in 2002 to permanently give the mayor authority to appoint the school board, instead of having board members directly elected by the public.

? Los Angeles: The California Legislature gave Democratic Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa partial control of the nation's second-largest school district. The law was to take effect Jan. 1, but a judge ruled last month that it violated the state constitution. A coalition of parents, students and administrators sued in October, contending the law takes too much power away from the elected school board. The city and state maintained that such a move was needed to overhaul the education system. Villaraigosa is appealing that decision. The law would have shifted some power from the seven-member school board to the mayor, the district superintendent and a new council of more than two dozen other mayors within the district's boundaries. The legislation would have also given Villaraigosa direct control over the city's 36 worst-performing schools. The mayor had initially sought near-complete control over the district. The district includes more than 727,000 students.

? Baltimore: Since 1997, the mayor and the governor have jointly appointed school board members. No other mayor in Maryland has any control of school system leadership. Baltimore schools have improved under the city-state partnership. But students in the city and in Prince George's County ? where, in a similar partnership, the governor and the county executive collaborate to appoint the school board ? continue to lag behind the rest of the state in performance on standardized tests and compliance with the No Child Left Behind law. There are more than 85,000 students in Baltimore public schools and more than 133,000 in Prince George's.

? Harrisburg, Pa.: The 10,000-student school district has been under mayoral control since 2000. A five-member board of control, appointed by the mayor, acts as the governing body of the district. Enrollment is up 35 percent due to a reduction in dropout rates since the takeover, according to superintendent Gerald Kohn. The Pennsylvania Legislature and governor backed a takeover after Harrisburg came in last when compared with the state's other school districts on standardized tests.

? Jackson, Miss.: The mayor appoints the school board, and the city council confirms the board. This system, in place since the 1950s, predates the current trend toward mayoral control.

? Philadelphia: Fed up with high dropout rates and low student test scores, Pennsylvania lawmakers seized control of the district in December 2001. A five-member commission was created to replace the city's former school board, with two members appointed by the mayor and three named by the governor. The district serves about 200,000 students.

? Providence, R.I.: Since 2003, the mayor appoints a nine-member school board with the approval of the city council. The school system consists of roughly 25,000 students.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE IF A SCHOOL FAILS?
Putting responsibility and accountability for our schools clearly under the Mayor will enable the entire government to work together to ensure our students get the best education possible.

CHICAGO AND BOSTON:
Powerful Evidence that Mayoral Responsibility Works CHICAGO

In 1995, the Illinois legislature gave the mayor of Chicago responsibility for the city's schools. Under Mayor Daley's leadership, they've moved rapidly to improve their schools.

Test scores have improved four years in a row.Percent of students scoring in the lowest academic group has decreased four years in a row.Improvements are spread across the city: 73 percent of high schools improved in reading and 95 percent improved in math.Enrollment has increased by 30,000 students over four years — a sign that confidence in the schools is returning.

BOSTON

Boston has also made tremendous strides with an appointed board and a strong mayor running the schools.

Officials have ended "social promotion" and set higher standards for students.Test scores have improved in nearly every grade in both reading and math.Gains have been greatest in math and at the high school level — where students have historically struggled the most.Boston was the first major urban school district to wire all of its schools. They have attracted more than $22 million in outside investment to support this effort.
ANY EDUCATION COMMISSIONER FIGHTING AGAINST THESE STATISTICS DOES NOT HAVE THE CHILDREN'S BEST INTEREST

SCHOOL BOARD MUST GO

In the words of D.K. Wilson "Today, amidst a war gone awry, an economy teetering precariously on the verge of complete collapse, an education system that fails its children, and parents realizing they are working three times harder than their parents for ever-fewer benefits, our government needs every distraction it can muster.  Barry Bonds is now fulfilling the government's needs. D.K. further elaborate, "The mass - the ruling mob - seems to be saying that they will pay money to watch the government chase down Barry Bonds, find enough evidence to get him into a court room, and then put him on trial.

Get Barry and that will solve all of our problems, especially the problem of a man who broke Mcgwire's and Aaron's record. Get Barry and we can make him pay for his arrogance of  of silence and keeping to himself. Get Barry and we can forget that steroids have been illegal in baseball since 19991. Get Barry and we can forget that most of our super heroes in all sport may be guilty of a crime not reported or maybe intentionally overlooked by baseball executive's

Why not get Roger Clemens or Mark Mcgwire or the  other 80 or more names that has been revealed in the Mitchell report. I guess to get these people would add to the premise of D.K. Wilson, they  would only add to the the many problems that Americans are already experiencing. Get Barry is the best solution, why, according to D.K again,  "arresting names like McGwire and Canseco, and NFL offensive lineman Tony Mandarich would have drawn the ire of a nation that, at the time, had little want for government interference in peoples' lives.

BARRY, BARRY YOU OUR MAN, IF THE GOVERNMENT CAN'T GET YOU NOBODY CAN

TO ALL BLOGGERS WHO ARE TIRED OF TRYING TO UNDERSTAND  WHITES, BLACKS, LATINOS AND ASIANS

Often the goal is nearer than It seems to a faint and faltering man, Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victor's cup. And he learned too late, when the night slipped down, How close he was to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out; The silver tint of the clouds of doubt; And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems afar; So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit; It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit .

I NEVER OWNED A GUN  BUT FINALLY I AGREE WITH THE NRA THAT EVERY CITIZEN SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS.  SHOULD EVERY BLACK MAN ARM HIMSELF BECAUSE A MAD POLICEMAN HAS BEEN SET FREE TO KILL BLACK  CHILDREN. SHOULD EVERY BLACK MAN BE AFRAID TO BE STOPPED BY A WHITE POLICE OFFICER NOT KNOWING WHEN THE OFFICER MAY SHOOT HIM. I KNOW HOW WHITE PEOPLE FELT NOW WHEN OJ WAS SET FREE, BUT I WILL REFUSE TO BE A TARGET FOR SOME SICK POLICE OFFICER WHO THINKS THAT EVERY BLACK MAN  AND CHILD IS A POTENTIAL CRIMINAL. YES NRA WE SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO ARM OURSELVES SINCE JUSTICE HAS BROKEN DOWN IN AMERICA. I AM A FRIGHTENED LAW ABIDING BLACK MAN WHO TREMBLE AT THE THOUGHT OF BEING STOPPED BY A WHITE POLICEMAN, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT.  WILL I BE SHOT WHEN REACHING FOR MY WALLET. HOW DO I PROTECT MYSELF FROM A MAD POLICEMAN.
