I'm sitting here bored to
tears. I have nothing better to do that update you every 5 mins about the
nothingness that continues here in the court house. When I truly know that all
you want to know is what is the verdict, but my idiot bosses think the masses
are really reading this BLEEP.
The Ford supporter just
ask to borrow money for the parking meter but only if I would mention his name
online.... and it's really only a "loan".
I think someone must have
had Mexican for dinner last nite because someone is kicking out some awful gas
over here.
Now if this is what they
wrote... I MIGHT actually read it... at least it's entertaining.
I'm still working on Channel 3
regardless.

Since we will continue to
have the "big trials" in Memphis .. that Fox deems so important that we need
minute by minute updates.... I think it may be time for me and Fox News Blogs to
part ways. I know other stations do the same thing, but they are smart enough
to do one blog that updates within itself. Apparently the idiots at Fox can't
comprehend such a spectacular feat. I mostly watch Channel 3 for news anyway.
I think if we show them how poplar this demand is on this site they may be
willing to setup their own. I'd be the first one to jump
ship.

Tired of filtering thru

They obviously respect Memphis as much as most of us respect the BLEEP on the bottom of our shoes. How can they leap frog UCLA over Memphis? They lost to USC and we beat USC. We are a one loss team and #1 and # 2 have 5 combined losses?????? HELLO.....
I know their are other factors... but this is plain and simple that ESPN thinks Memphis is NOTHING. I'll be happy when they have to announce we are the NCAA champs!
Not that the ESPN/USA Today poll even matterS.... it's all about the AP... the AP just posted... we are # 2....

I'll will be utterly surprised if she even serves more than 45 days.
She is asking for leniency b/c of her health... I think she got it since she technically should have gotten 30-37 months.
The Federal Prison has better health care then most of us.... I say... she'll be better off.
But again..... I doubt she serves 45 days.

Parents Going to Jail for Their Children's Truancy
Truancy is a big problem in MemphisDistrict Attorney's office is cracking downParents are going to jail for allowing their kids to skip school (Memphis
2/4/2008) - A silent issue has become a big problem for schools, kids
who don't go to class. Now it's a problem for which more parents are
having to pay.
"I will send you to jail faster than a blink of the eye for not sending your child to school."
Bryan
Davis is the man with the message. He's a District Attorney prosecutor
on the trail of parents who allow their kids to skip school. Schools
call him in to get tough.
"Your child already misses too many
days out of school. Your child already tardy too many times. You
already check your child out of school too many times. I already know
who you are. I am going to be looking to prosecute you too." Davis says
to a group of parents.
And parents are doing jail time because of their kids unexcused absences.
We caught up with Cyrille Mathes, who admitted that she kept her son out of class.
"That's the only son I have. So when he says momma I don't want to go to school, I don't make him go." says Mathes.
She says her son has a learning disability and wasn't getting help at school.
They are excuses, the District Attorney keeps hearing. So an office was set up inside Juvenile Court to fight it.
Bryan Davis says 10-thousand students in Memphis are truant every month.
His office prosecutes the worst of the worse, 120 cases a month, taking parents to court and possibly jail.
Cyrille Mathes was locked up for ten days after her 15 year old son Michael missed month after month of school.
"Who
wants to go to jail? I went to jail for 10 days. That's nothing I
wanted to do. It was like I was in jail for 10 years." says Mathes.
But
Davis says parents must get the message, education is more important
than staying home to baby sit or meet other family needs.
"Their
child going to school and being educated is not that important to them.
Those are the parents we are after, those are the main ones who will
end up in jail, who don't get the message and do something about it."
says Davis.
We found kids out on the streets during the school day.
"I got transferred. I am waiting to get enrolled." said one kid.
Some
students are also paying the price. We are told about twenty students
have even been put under house arrest because of their continued
absences. They are monitored and can only leave home to go to school.
The warning is going out, that it's not business as usual.
Cyrille Mathes says her son who has missed 30 days so far this year, is now in school. But there are others.
"It's
a lot of children don't go to school and their parents not going to
jail. I'm not the only one. I'm just that one that went to jail." says
Mathes.
A price other parents may also have to pay.
The
D.A.'s office is also trying to find solutions to the truancy problem
and has started a mentoring program for students who are truant. Right
now they are in need of more mentors.

I was driving downtown yesterday to run an errand. I was taking Sam Cooper to East Pkwy, then I take North Pkwy to downtown. (quickest way I have found for those in the Cordova area) So after Sam Cooper turns into the road (I cant remember what they call it now) and the speed limit drops to like 40mph. There was an undercover officer in a durango taking radar. I spotted him right off and made sure I was "ok". We went down the road a bit and I notice in my rearview that the maroon maxima is bobbing and weaving fairly fast thru all the traffic and I am thinking.... where is that cop? much to my amusement here he came... SUV flying to catch to this guy... lights on and all that... and finally catches up to this guy in the maxima and pulls him over. at this point I am stopped at the light and can watch this all happen in my mirror.
This is where i call him an idiot. We have all sped while driving... and a lot of us have been caught. Not the end of the world or anything at all. The cop pulls him over and what is the first thing this guy does throw his door open and comes flying out of his car towards the cop who was just stepping out of his vehicle. I couldn't hear what was said... but i could read the body language of that cop... and he was yelling and pointing his finger to go back.. I am 100% sure his other hand was on his gun...... Before I drove off I saw that the cop finally had him come the back of his maxima and looked like he was patting him down before they would "talk".
So again... this guy could have easily been shot and of course we would have blamed the officer. I'll say this... if a guy came at me like that guy came flying out of his car in a rage like that... i would have shot him first then figured out what he wanted. (not if I was a officer... personally).

House members run up mail bills of $20.3 million
By Dennis Conrad
Associated Press
Friday, December 28, 2007
WASHINGTON -- U.S. House members spent $20.3 million in tax money
last year to send constituents what's often the government equivalent
of junk mail -- meeting announcements, tips on car care and job
interviews, surveys on public policy and just plain bragging.
They sent nearly 116 million pieces of mail in all, many of them glossy
productions filled with flattering photos and lists of the latest roads
and bridges the lawmaker has brought home to the district, an
Associated Press review of public records shows.
Top ten mailers
Rep. Henry Brown, R-S.C. 1,257,972, $177,706.
Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Pa. 1,003,836, $172,215.
Rep. Cliff Stearns, R-Fla. 906,788, $153,659.
Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, R-Mich. 844,336, $177,293.
Rep. David Obey, D-Wis. 807,604, $128,605.
Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-N.C. 785,415, $164,548.
Rep. Timothy Bishop, D-N.Y. 759,402, $131,979.
Rep. Pete Stark, D-Calif. 752,126, $135,705.
Rep. Scott Garrett, R-N.J. 741,971, $160,795.
Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y. 733,005, $164,156.
And we wonder why our deficit is so high? And why our taxes are high... this is plain nonsense, for them to merely blow their own horn.

Jack He and his wife and their supporters are asking people to donate
to a fund so they can return to China with their children. The He’s
have become well know due to the custody battle over their daughter,
Anna Mae. The He’s and Jack and Louise Baker fought for several years
over the child. The Baker’s say the He’s left Anna Mae with them as an
infant because they couldn’t afford to care for her. The Baker’s
contend the He’s abandoned Anna and the fight began. In the end, the
He’s were given custody of Anna Mae after having her almost seven
years. Jack (not his real name) He and his wife were in the U.S. from
China on a student Visa which expired years ago. The He’s now must
return to China and have been asking for financial help. My
understanding is it will cost about $10,000 to get the family back to
China and have some starting money. So far, the He’s have raised almost
half that amount.
I got that off another blog.... but... really asking $$? After that is the reason he put his child in Foster care to start with? Further more how are they still illegally in this country since his visa expired years ago? I say deport them back to China... and let them deal with their own problems, but leave the child here until they can afford her. Not to mention how China treats young girls... like they are dirt. She would have a better life in America.
Seems like Mr. He is full of excuses and has nothing to prove for the (student visa) he was here for or a job for that matter I presume. And the public is more than willing to continue to aid him in his lack of care for his family.
Hey I want to move out west to Oregon... who wants to donate for me?

Below is the story from Fox news. This guy gave this woman her opportunity for a child without having to use a random strange donor. And they agree he has no rights, yet now all of a sudden she needs child support 18yrs later?Perfect example of why our legal system is so messed up. I didnt think you had to pay support after they were 18? Sounds like the mom is only looking for $$.... she don't want to pay for college i guess.
Sperm Donor Ordered to Pay Child Support for 18-Year-Old
Sunday, December 02, 2007
A New York doctor who donated his sperm to help a gay colleague
conceive has been ordered to pay child support for the boy, now an
18-year-old living in Oregon, the New York Post reported Sunday.
The
donor was a married doctor at a Long Island hospital in the late 1980s
when he donated his sperm to a female hospital resident who was trying
to have a baby with her lesbian partner, the Post reported. Although
the donor gave up all claims and rights to the child, he allowed his
name to be put on the birth certificate.
Click here to read the full story at the New York Post.
For
several years after the boy's birth in 1989, the doctor sent the child
gifts and money and cards signed "Dad" and had regular contact with the
child, the Post reported. However, when the boy moved to Oregon
with his mother and her partner in 1993, regular contact stopped. Since
then, the man's contact with the child consisted of seven phone calls
and one brief meeting over the past 15 years.
A New York
family court judge ruled last month that the man must now pay child
support for the boy, now 18 and heading to college, the Post reported.

This is a blog a good friend of mine posted. I thought it was spot on in regards to some of the mayors comments. Enjoy....
ENRAGED IN MEMPHIS
Current mood:
enraged

I would like to take this opportunity to vent my disgust for the way Memphis Mayor W.W. Herenton handled himself after winning the Mayoral race for the 5th time.
This man has the chance to bring a racially divided city together and instead of putting the citizens of Memphis first he decides to draw a racial line in the sand.
Herenton stands there during his victory speech and says "The people have asked me if I am going to bring the people of Memphis together now that I am back in office? Well, I didn't divide us." He should have taken this opportunity to say YES I will bring us together because this city should be ONE not TWO.
May I remind our ever so classy Mayor that a great man named Martin Luther King stood up on his own to bring our races together AND HE DID NOT DIVIDE US but at least he tried. If Herenton had given a heart filled speech and said he wanted to bring this city together I would have felt something other than utter disgust for this man. He is NO LEADER. A leader does not stand up and point out the faults of other races unless he wants to follow Hitler's route.
Herentons constituents follow his lead and if chooses to behave with such ignorance than they will do the same. All he is doing is sending the message out that all White People in Memphis are "Haters" when I know some European Americans that voted for him. This brings up something else I need to BLEEP about.
Herenton referred to Black People countless times as "African Americans" and then referred to whites as "White People". If he is going to be POLITICALLY CORRECT- which I know is hard- than he should address us Whites as European Americans or simply Caucasians. He claims to NOT see color when he looks at people! I am sick over this and it makes so sad. Memphis will never be the city it once was and don't get me wrong. I am not blaming Willie for all of the racial tension in Memphis but as the Mayor he should stand up and say enough is enough instead of holding a grudge against the "whites" in Memphis.

Well looks like King Willie will retain his title. It's a shame that Morris couldn't let his ego go and bow out.... then it might have been a race worth watching.
I hope the Memphians get something good out of Willie. If not... jump the county line for the cheaper taxes like me.... ha ha This is all a spectator sport for me since I cant vote anymore. I'm just glad it's all over and now we only have to listen to the drama for the next year over the Presidental elections. YEAH!

Controller Errors At Memphis Raise Concerns
By Mary Grady, Contributing Editor
Six operational errors over six days at the Memphis Air Route Traffic Control Center last week were due to fatigue and training errors caused by inadequate staffing, according to the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA). "Memphis Center was authorized by the FAA to have 354 controllers on staff for a safe staffing level," NATCA said in a news release on Tuesday. "Currently, there are 249 fully certified controllers staffing six areas 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These same controllers are also responsible for the on-the-job training for the 63 trainees." FAA spokeswoman Laura Brown told AVweb that the "authorized staffing" numbers cited by NATCA are out of date. "We have new staffing ranges, and 244 to 298 is the staffing range for that facility," she said.

White Man Awarded $150,000 in Reverse Racism Lawsuit
Thursday, August 23, 2007
E-MAIL STORY
PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION
BUFFALO, N.Y. — A federal jury awarded a white man $150,000 in a reverse racial discrimination lawsuit Wednesday.
Mark Pasternak, who is white, said he was dismissed from his state job helping troubled youths because he could not tolerate being called names like "cracker," "polack" and "stupid white boy."
A seven-member all-white jury found that Tommy Baines, who is black, discriminated against Pasternak and created a hostile work environment.
"I'm elated and overwhelmed," Pasternak told The Buffalo News Wednesday. "I feel like I've been to hell and back ... After all these years, the best feeling is, the jury heard his story and mine, and they believed me."
Pasternak's attorney, David Seeger, said his client took abuse from Baines for three years while the two men worked with an agency formerly known as the state Division for Youth. The facility is no longer in operation.
Baines subjected Pasternak to race-based slurs, job sabotage and crude insults in front of co-workers, according to court papers and testimony.
Baines and his attorney, William Hites, did not return calls seeking comment.
According to court records, the state investigated the racial allegations in 1998. Baines was fined $2,000 for his conduct, but he was allowed to continue working as a supervisor.
Pasternak claimed he experienced to insomnia, anxiety and depression and had to take several medical leaves of absence because of the verbal abuse.
He was dismissed by the state in 1999. The state later offered Pasternak his job, but he said he turned it down because the state refused to guarantee he wouldn't be working under Baines again.
Brian Marchetti, a spokesman for the state office, had no immediate comment Wednesday.
"When I was growing up, I was always taught to stay away from racial slurs ... and epitaphs," Pasternak said. "This kind of conduct, from a supervisor who worked with kids, really bothered me."

I know I'll catch some HEAT of my own for this.... but I saw this mornig on the news the sister of the latest woman ( 46 yr old I think... which is why it caught my attention because she was so young) in Memphis to die because she didn't have A/C. Now if I was awake and hearing right, her sister said she knew she was having A/C issues that they building hadn't fixed after repeat attempts to call them.
TO ME... the sister looked very well kept. Why not have your sister stay with you during the heatwave? And now we just want to blame everyone for her death... when you could have saved her yourself.
Just my 2 cents... ok let the flood gates open.... let me have it!
