Americans inherit from their ancestors a glorious tradition of freedom and resistance to oppression.  Our country has long been admired by the rest of the world for her great example of liberty and prosperity – a light shining in the darkness of tyranny.

But many Americans today are frustrated.  The political choices they are offered give them no real choice at all.  For all their talk of “change,” neither major political party as presently constituted challenges the status quo in any serious way.  Neither treats the Constitution with anything but contempt.  Neither offers any kind of change in monetary policy.  Neither wants to make the reductions in government that our crushing debt burden demands.  Neither talks about bringing American troops home not just from Iraq but from around the world.  Our country is going bankrupt, and none of these sensible proposals are even on the table.

This destructive bipartisan consensus has suffocated American political life for many years.  Anyone who tries to ask fundamental questions instead of cosmetic ones is ridiculed or ignored.

That is why the Campaign for Liberty was established: to highlight the neglected but common-sense principles we champion and reinsert them into the American political conversation.

We believe that freedom is an indivisible whole, and that it includes not only economic liberty but civil liberties and privacy rights as well, all of which are historic rights that our civilization has cherished from time immemorial.

Our country is ailing.  That is the bad news.  The good news is that the remedy is so simple and attractive: a return to the principles our Founders taught us.  Respect for the Constitution, the rule of law, individual liberty, sound money, and a noninterventionist foreign policy constitute the foundation of the Campaign for Liberty.

Wow, Sir, your views are just awesome & patriotic!
We need a few more with this opinion in our Country, & legislature!
After all this hogwash we deal with everyday, listening to the so-called experts, reading your blogs are a pleasure.
Like going back to school when we were taught the great American values?
Like reading about Washington, Jefferson, James Bowie & Davie Crockett!
Where is that spirit?
Oh well, keep it up dude--you got one fan!

Farmer: The words were copied from the web site he linked to. I'm not sure who wrote it for the web site, but it is inspiring, isn't it?

This is a Ron Paul site. the non-interventionist foreign policy is a good thought or idea in theory but it is much much to late for that! I possibly would be able to embrace that kind of policy if we had not already used a nuclear device on japan and if we did not have so many nations bent on our destruction....including many on our own soil.If we did not have an Iran or syria or places like that where evil resides.Ron Paul is a good man I am fairly sure but,He seems as though he might be a little soft on this area.I still would consider Him as we definely need people who genuinely love their country and mankind in general.I think Ron Paul was a doctor-surgeon.

Tre_tigger: He actually was an OB/GYN and has brought many lives into this world. He is a very good man and he serves his people well. One of the few Republicans who voted no for the Iraq invasion.

Correct, it is a Ron Paul lead campaign.

I do not think it naïve to transition to a different foreign policy. I would agree that it would take some diplomatic conversation and more; we, the USA, has to apologize for sticking our nose where it did not belong. This is the same manner of effort you might expect if you had infringed on your neighbor’s property and argued your right to be on their soil. Prideful actions on the part of the USA have put us into a position where we have some crow to eat,

In Plato’s Republic a community is used to examine the actions of an individual, here I think there is the same kind of correlation. If we study relationships of an individual we can extrapolate the relations of nations. We find the same kind of dysfunctional relationships between nations as we have between family members and neighbors. I believe we have some enabling and co-dependant relationships as a nation where it will hurt socially and economically as we realign our roles and responsibilities.

There will be conflict as we go through discovery and healing. Healing will not occur without such conversations to reveal hurt that exists. In my opinion, this is why we have so many who are angry, frustrated and lashing out at our country. We are the overbearing “big” sibling in the telling others what is good for them while seeking our own best interest rather than modeling the freedoms we preach.

This is a complex discussion for such limited format.

Yes it is, and one world problem that prophecy states will never be resolved.Jesus the Christ is the one who said there would be war and rumour of war until the very end,in fact the world will have an extreme war toward the end of days.I appreciate the blog and the civil conversation.
