Asthma Awareness Day in ABQ

Remember to be at Cottonwood Mall on May 3rd (this Saturday) at 10:00am. There we will have our final challenge, health fair and game show. Jessica Garate (KRQE-13 & KASA-2) will be hosting the game show!

The following are some myths related to asthma:

Buying a Chihuahua dog will cure asthma.

Using Vicks Vaporub will stop an asthma exacerbation. (attack)

Your child will outgrow asthma.

Asthma is all in your head.

You can't exercise or play sports if you have asthma.

Of course, all of these are NOT true!

Tennis on Tuesday
Don't miss the fun - Don't miss the BONUS POINTS!

The Great Asthma Race participants will be able to enjoy the 1st Group Challenge on Tuesday April 22nd at the Lobo Tennis Club. Tennis "playtime" is also available for points.

Individuals can receive post if you go in anytime between 3:30pm and 5:30pm to practice, play and just enjoy tennis. There is no formal class at this time.

The Group Challenge will be held 6:30 - 8:00. Teams will play in a "Mini-Fun Tourney" that requires NO experience. Come have some tennis fun - Courtesy of the Lobo Tennis Club! Once your team attends this challenge, you will need to turn in your Leg 1 Race Passport/Activity Record Sheet and you will receive the necessary supplies for Leg 2! You don't want to miss this!

As the teams learned at the kick-off,
these events carry potential for BONUS POINTS!

Very Important Note:
Participants need to bring their own tennis rackets -
balls will be provided. Dust off that tennis racket! If you don't have a tennis racket, ask a friend, family member, co-worker.

Great_Asthma_Race

The Great Asthma Race is a team challenge that promotes physical activity, health & wellness, and asthma knowledge & understanding. This event is an Albuquerque-based, challenge patterned loosely after the well-known “The Amazing Race” television show. In The Great Asthma Race, teams of four individuals will compete for points in physical challenges, participate in health & wellness activities and gain asthma knowledge. Team members must work together to complete assigned tasks/challenges. At each challenge, the team will receive asthma information. Participants will utilize this dedicated blog to complete additional activities & receive asthma education. The Great Asthma Race starting line is on Saturday April 19th at the Alameda Open Space at 10:00am. The Finish Line is May 3rd at Cottonwood Mall at 10:00am. On May 3rd, participants will participant in a final decathlon and game show to complete The Great Asthma Race.
