Last night (Monday) the advance screening of Tropic Thunder, Starring Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and Robert Downey Jr. showed last night and I have to say it was an experience. The movie opens with several "previews" of the actors in different movies that will have you laughing so hard you wont know whether those were real or not. Following the movie, it was definitely a dirty one. It has everything from blood and swearing to drugs and children with knives. Hey if you're a local actor you will truly enjoy this movie as it makes fun of the superficial Hollywood Star in more ways than I can remember. If you're not an actor and a fan of Ben Stiller, this movie is a must see.
The best part by far, and this is a spoiler, is the cameo from Tom Cruise. He plays an aggressive business capitalist that enjoys threatening peoples lives and dancing to bootylicious. Trust me, you'll love it. Anyway its out this weekend so......leave the kids at home (with a baby sitter of course you genius).

This was an interesting story I stumbled upon in a magazine the other day. The article talked about a secret CIA experiment that dabbled in the theory of mind control. This experiment was conducted back in the 1950's through the 1960's. What the CIA was doing was exposing individuals to intense mind altering drugs and other methodology in order to, as you know, attempt to control the mind of the subject.
Originally the CIA was using volunteers in the experiment, but later decided to test on unknowing victims. One reported stated that CIA officials opened up shop at a brothel and would serve unsuspecting patrons wine laced with LSD. When they got bored with these results they went even bigger drugging foreign officials and those alike to "see what would happen." Things started falling apart when a man, drugged with LSD, committed suicide one week later because of the intense trip he experienced.
Anyway, through the 70's the CIA claimed to have put a stop to the program and much of the evidence of this experiment, known as MK-ULTRA, was destroyed. But in knowing that the CIA would attempt to do this, you have to wonder what else they have done that we do not know about and perhaps what they are experimenting with right now. I'm sure mind control is still in the agenda. What government agency wouldn't want that? God Bless America

This last weekend I took a trip out to L.A., one of my favorite vacation spots. While there I had a long talk with an old friend about life. We talked for a long time about the things we wished to accomplish before we die and dug up our old dreams that we wanted to accomplish yet never did. You may be able to relate if you go through your closet and find those old pair of roller blades that you wanted as a kid so that you could train to be an Olympic athlete (or something similar to that example). Why did we do this? Because we wanted to learn from our past. Many times in life we all set out to accomplish something great for ourselves and simply end up growing bored and discarding the whole idea.Everybody does it and that's fine, but eventually it becomes a bad habit.
I had many goals. I wanted to be an astronaut, an Olympic champion, a Stanford graduate, a professional snowboarder, a tennis legend, and a film director. Each one of these goals I actually did attempt. The tennis racquets now sit in my closet along side my snowboard. The college study books lay at the bottom of my book shelves, unused next to my books on star charts. But I am not discouraged. My friend told me that these forgotten dreams are like that old adage about history. If we fail to learn from our past, we are simply bound to repeat it. And who knows, I still may be an Olymic champion or a movie director, but today is a great day to set out to be something great. In sharing this, I hope you too someday achieve your greatest wishes and dreams.
Tell you what, if you e-mail me at
faceoffox@kasa.com and tell me what its is that you wish to do before you die, I will give you free passes your choice of advance movie screenings in the future.
Well everyone have a great day and I hope to hear from you all.

I'm sorry, but in light of this being a pretty funny idea, these geeks actually set up a website that allows you to go and buy old and recycled Nintendo parts that have been refashioned into clothing accessories. Funny thing is that some of this stuff costs more than necessary. I mean way more. For example they have the old Nintendo controller refashioned into a belt buckle going for nearly $60. Whatever. All I need is 3 bucks, an ebay account , glue, and some time to waste, and viola, you nerds have some competition. What a gip!

Hey So today is the big day over at Dairy Queen. I will be there from 3 to 5. Come by and buy a Blizzard to help support UNMH's Children's Miracle Network. The Dairy Queen is located on Southern Blvd. out in Rio Rancho. Just hop on Paseo Del Norte heading West. Turn Right on golf course and follow it over to Southern. Turn left and it should be there in the area. Cant miss it. Hope to see you all there.
